Dr. Stan Coffey

Raised in Sweetwater, Oklahoma, Stan Coffey was saved at age six and took his first pastorate at age twenty.  Stan is the pastor of The Church at Quail Creek in Amarillo, Texas.  He is a graduate of Wayland Baptist University, Plainview, Texas – Bachelor of Arts; Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, Texas – Master of Religious Education; and California Graduate School of Theology – Doctor of Divinity.

Dr. Coffey has served Texas churches for more than forty years, twenty-nine of those in his current pastorate at the Church at Quail Creek in Amarillo, Texas.  He has served Southern Baptists in a variety of positions including board member – North American Mission Board; SBC Executive Committee; president and vice president – SBC Pastors’ Conference; and president of the Southern Baptist of Texas Convention.  He was a recipient of the W.A. Criswell Award for Pastoral Evangelism and awarded the Paul Pressler Distinguished Service Award for his valued work during the SBC’s conservative resurgence and his key role in the founding of the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention.  He has averaged baptizing more than 300 people each year of his forty year ministry. 

Dr. Coffey is married to a pastor’s daughter, Glenda Fincher, and the couple has two married children and nine grandchildren who are the light of their lives.
