Many people have asked - "where did you guys come up with your name? Why FX or Faith 'Xtreme"?
Several years ago, our youth minister was on a plane returning from a mission scouting trip to the Rio Grande Valley/Matamoros, Mexico area. Sitting next to him was a man who obviously had too much to drink. Yes, he was drunk, rude and extremely obstinate to the flight crew.
So, what should a youth minister do... right... he pulled out his Bible and began reading at Luke 18:35-43:
35 As Jesus was approaching Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the road begging. 36 Now hearing a crowd going by, he began to inquire what this was. 37 They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. 38 And he called out, saying, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" 39 Those who led the way were sternly telling him to be quiet; but he kept crying out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" 40 And Jesus stopped and commanded that he be brought to Him; and when he came near, He questioned him, 41 "What do you want Me to do for you?" And he said, "Lord, I want to regain my sight!" 42 And Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has made you well." 43 Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him, glorifying God; and when all the people saw it, they gave praise to God.

| Our Youth Pastor, Mike Jenkins, (contact our Youth Pastor by following this link) noticed a couple of things --- Blind Bartimaeus had an 'Xtreme need and desire to meet Jesus! (v. 38)
- Blind Bartimaeus' Xtreme need and desire wasn't quenched by peer pressure! (v. 39)
- Blind Bartimaeus' Xtreme need and desire transformed into Faith 'Xtreme. (v. 41-42)
- Blind Bartimaeus' Faith 'Xtreme led others to praise our Awesome God. (v. 43)

As a result of this experience, the youth at TBC held a month-long Bible Study on Bartimaeus. Afterwards, we decided that life would be so awesome if we lived with FAITH 'XTREME just like Blind Bartimaeus! Thus, FX was born.
